Days 1 and 2 in Japan!

We've officially arrived and settled in (sort of... jet lag is still affecting many, including me). Our first day was filled with sightseeing at the Japanese Diet (aka Parliament), kyogen traditional theater (reinterpreted into English for us), and an official reception with government and U.S. Embassy officials. We also had lunch at a tempura restaurant with traditional tatame mat seating (no shoes!) and did some souvenir shopping (two words: paper store!!). Many have gone out for to local clubs and music venues or for more sightseeing this evening, while others prepare to go to the famous fish market at 5 am tomorrow morning to witness the daily fish auction. I am preparing for a lovely 10 or so hours of sleep instead... to each his own!

Dad,

It's been fun to organize my photos and videos each night - I'm having a wonderful time! Feel free to pass on the blog address to others (family, friends) who may enjoy it.
